Fly fishing gifts under $50 that anglers actually use
Most fly fishing gifts end up in a drawer. The angler in your life already has a favorite rod, a reel they trust and more flies than they'll admit. What they don't have is a better way to deal with the small, constant annoyances: dropped flies, a rod with nowhere to go, tools that slide off a boat seat.
Every gift below is under $50, made in Bozeman, Montana, and built to fix one of those problems.
Mag Grab Mini — $19.99
A magnetic fly patch about the size of a matchbook. It clips to a vest, pack or wader strap and holds a dozen-plus flies by the hook, so they don't fall out the way they do from foam. It's strong enough to hold nippers or forceps too. The easiest stocking stuffer on this list.
Mag Grab Doublestack — $27.99
Slimmer and sized for waders and chest packs. It started as a name badge for fly shop staff at trade shows, which tells you how much it gets looked at. Same holding strength as the rest of the Mag Grab line.
Mag Grab Plus — $34.99
Bigger and deeper than the Mini, with high-strength neodymium magnets for a full day's worth of flies. A good pick for the angler who changes flies constantly.
Rod Rack — $34.99
The gift for anyone who has ever held a rod in their teeth. A small magnetic mount goes on the rod and a base goes on waders, a vest or a pack, so the rod parks hands-free while they tie on a fly or net a fish. Flylords named it a 2025 Gear of the Year.
Tool Stick Mini — $29.99
A magnetic tool caddy with a non-slip silicone face. It holds pliers, forceps and scissors on a boat, cooler or truck so they stop sliding around. New this year.
Temperature Tape — $6.99
A stick-on thermometer for the landing net. Every fish they land, they'll know the water temperature, which tells them when trout are feeding and when to give them a break. Pairs with any gift above.
Make it personal: custom engraving
Add a name, initials or a logo to a Mag Grab. Engraved gifts are the ones people keep for years.
